Tomorrow, June 6, is National Gun Violence Awareness Day
Here's a list of GVP advocacy events and information to help you get involved
Tomorrow, June 6, 2025, will be the 11th National Gun Violence Awareness Day, also known as Wear Orange Day. Created in 2015 to honor Hadiya Pendleton, who was killed by a stray bullet days after performing at President Obama’s second inauguration, it is always commemorated on the first Friday of June.
Those concerned with ending America’s gun violence epidemic and who wish to honor victims and survivors of firearm violence are asked to wear orange this weekend to show their support. You can also get involved in many of the GVP-related events, rallies, and commemorations going on around the country throughout the month of June — National Gun Violence Awareness Month. And remember to hashtag any related social media posts with #WearOrange.
Last week we listed a number events, information, and advocacy toolkits here; and below we’ve added more that we’ve since learned about. There are certainly more, and the good people at Wear Orange have created a handy map for you to find an event near you.

DATA SAVES LIVES
Help us continue our fight against gun lobby disinformation.
For this National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we at GVPedia are focusing on the theme of “Data Saves Lives.” As pro-gun forces continue to spread a battery of disinformation across the digital landscape, we must work even harder to push back with factual research and personal stories from across the country that highlight the grassroots work that is growing in the face of increasing rollbacks from the Federal level.
