Substacks We Suggest
Substack has offered a fruitful venue for voices from the Gun Violence Prevention world - today we offer up our favorites
Substack has only been around since 2017. In that time though, it’s established itself as a go-to format for long-form discussion of an infinite amount of topics in a era of memes and TikTok clips.
Famous names like Dan Rather, George Takei, Patti Smith, and Michael Moore can impart their personal opinions and stories directly to their fans; while upstarts like us have a space to share complex concepts from a variety of voices in an approachable way — with the added social media angle that ensures you don’t get lost in a tsunami of blogs, as was the case when that founding internet format lost its luster by the early 2010s.
Substack also offers a tiered-pay structure that can help keep small nonprofits and individual freelancers afloat — which seems like a good time to remind you that we humbly ask you to subscribe to Armed With Reason.
For now, all of our daily content is free, though as we come up on 2025, we plan to add more content exclusive to paid subscribers. Just scroll to the bottom of this article for the subscription link.
As Armed With Reason has searched around the Substack sidestreets since we began in April, 2023, we’ve noticed that there are not a ton of Substacks directly dedicated to the Gun Violence Prevention cause; though there are many that, within their general socio-political sphere, touch on the topic frequently.
So today we offer a quick list of the Substack pages that are worth your consideration. If all are not solely dedicated to GVP, they offer occasional, informed pieces about our American gun epidemic featuring informed, intelligent, and insightful writing.
