You might want to fact check:

Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University indicate that in about 5% of active shooter events, an armed civilian stopped the attack by shooting the suspect.Researchers at the ALERRT Center studied 464 active shooter attacks from 2000 to 2021 and found that civilians stopped attackers before police arrived on 73 occasions

As should you, Don.

If you actually read the ALERRT reports, you'll find that from 2014-2023 there were 15 cases of a successful DGU by an armed civilian, 4 by armed guards, and 21 by unarmed civilians, out of a total of 351. This includes one DGU case that the ALERRT team is on record saying they missed in 2015.

If you wish to extend it to 2000-2023 (I don't have full dog data before 2014, hence why the analysis begins there), there were 16 successful DGUs by civilians, 8 by armed guards, and 42 by unarmed civilians out of 511 total cases.
