Today, Thursday, October 17, is Wear Purple Day, also known as Purple Thursday.
The designation is the third Thursday of October — Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). You’re asked to wear purple to show support for those who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and let them know that help is available.
DVAM originated in October, 1981, as a way to unite advocates across the nation in their efforts to end domestic violence. Throughout this month, Armed With Reason will be posting content that addresses gun-related domestic violence issues.
