New Book Release: "The Myths We Carry"
Out today, the first book from GVPedia founder Devin Hughes is a concise guide to understanding our gun crisis
It’s been a big week for GVPedia founder Devin Hughes, culminating in today’s announcement of the release of his debut book, The Myths We Carry: An Advocate’s Guide to the Gun Debate.
The book — available here — is an efficient, evidence-based summation of Hughes’ central arguments against unfettered firearm ownership in the United States and the bogus interpretations of the Second Amendment promoted by the gun lobby.
Stunned by the tragedy of the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting, Hughes joined the gun violence prevention movement as an advocate who is laser-focused on advancing fact-based arguments and solutions — primarily through his non-profit organization, GVPedia, numerous magazine articles, and his frequent pieces for GVPedia’s Substack, Armed with Reason.
Just prior to the book’s release, Hughes and GVPedia’s Research Director Allison Jordan presented new research at the National Research Conference for the Prevention of Firearm-Related Harms, titled An Analysis of Family Annihilation Shootings: 2014-2024. We plan on publishing a series of articles here about our findings in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
Then shortly after, Hughes was quoted in an extensive Newsweek article about a recent active shooter study, whose gun lobby-backed claims were being disputed.
Check out the full Newsweek article here.
Newsweek then updated the piece with a response from gun lobby mouthpiece, John Lott, that proceeded to utilize the same flawed retorts GVPedia has already debunked in previous articles, including these:
Congratulations, Devin Hughes, and keep up the good fight!
