Six Years of GVPedia - Part 5: Armed With Reason
Extending the reach of GVPedia through our Substack and podcasts.
This month marks the sixth anniversary of GVPedia. To celebrate the occasion, we want to highlight some of our successes in the cause of gun violence prevention. This is the fourth entry in a six-part series.
Launching in April of 2023, Armed With Reason was our newest initiative in countering the gun lobby’s Firehose of Falsehood — a decades-long disinformation campaign that has substantially altered the interpretation of the 2nd Amendment from its original militia-based intent.
The gun lobby’s campaign has convinced millions of Americans that firearms make them safer, a demonstrable falsehood.
Armed With Reason features original articles from GVPedia, as well as from leaders in the gun violence prevention movement, survivors, gun owners, and advocates from across the country. And with our weekly Friday Finds feature, we aggregate GVP-related articles from around the internet you may have missed.
This platform is a way to elevate all voices in the gun violence prevention community. It also provides a space for our thriving GVP community to quickly identify and respond to disinformation from the gun lobby and its allies, while also rapidly promoting best organizational practices and important information and stories.
Four months after we launched Armed With Reason for written content, we introduced “Armed with Reason: The Podcast”, providing a different medium for those in the movement to participate and learn.
We are proud we have built an inclusive space where people across the country can share ideas, network, and collaborate.
As this space grows over the coming months and years, we hope you will find our content informative and helpful to the work you are doing in the movement. And if you wish to support our efforts here, please consider a paid subscription.
