Official GVPedia Merch Shop Now Open!
#WearOrange, or a couple other colors, while repping your Gun Violence Prevention bona fides!
We are quickly coming up on June — National Gun Violence Awareness Month. And for gun violence prevention advocates, that means it’s time to wear orange to show your support for the cause.
If you haven’t settled on your particular sartorial orange article yet, we have just launched our official GVPedia Merchandise Shop!
There you can get our logo-emblazoned t-shirts in orange — and some other colors too — not to mention some snazzy totes, mugs, and a Data Log to jot down newfound info and snappy comebacks.
Proceeds go directly to GVPedia’s ongoing mission to bust gun lobby myths, and arm policymakers, advocates, and the public with the data to create evidence-based policy to reduce gun violence.
The commemoration of June as National Gun Violence Awareness Month began in 2015, originally as Gun Violence Awareness Day, the first Friday and following weekend of each June. The idea was created by the teenage friends of Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed by a stray bullet in 2013.
It soon became known as #WearOrange Day, and eventually expanded into National Gun Violence Awareness Month — all of which was officially designated by Congress in 2021.
