ICYMI: Armed With Reason: The Podcast - "Gun Violence Prevention in 2025"
Moving into 2025, GVPedia's leaders discuss how to gain victories in a seemingly dark era for gun violence prevention
Among the flood of moves the Trump administration has made since Inauguration Day was the shuttering of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Just a few days before this occurred, GVPedia founder Devin Hughes and Executive Director Caitlin Clarkson Pereira sat down for a podcast to discuss the detrimental effects the new administration will have on curbing gun violence.
Nevertheless, Devin and Caitlin declare that GVPedia’s main mission of countering disinformation will become even more important. Further, looking back at the GVP gains in 2024, and the ones already set up for 2025, can aid in rebuilding a positive energy moving into this very murky period.
“In 2025, that's one of the things that GVPedia is going to be striving towards — making sure that disinformation is seen as a root cause of gun violence and is treated as such. And that the academic research on what can effectively counter disinformation is widely promulgated and adopted, because there are relatively simple steps that both organizations and individuals can do, and something everybody can do.”
