The Spotify Wrapped numbers are in, and our's are going up!
In case you missed it, Armed With Reason was a bit more active on the podcast front through 2024. At the end of the year, Spotify gave us the numbers, and it looks like our followers noticed. Dig into Armed With Reason: The Podcast’s year in review below. And check back for a brand new podcast tomorrow. We hope to offer even more throughout 2025.
Last week we posted Armed With Reason’s Top 10 Articles of 2024. This week we get a glimpse at how our 2024 podcasts fared.
As we worked to expand our Substack content last year, we tried to focus on more and better podcasts. According to Spotify and its year-end “Wrapped” numbers-crunching feature, whatever we’re doing seems to be working.
According to Spotify, in 2024 our podcasts gained 184% more listeners, 98% more streams, and 221% more followers. Our most popular podcast on Spotify was Episode 12: Keeping Guns Off Campus, featuring an interview with Andy Pelosi, founder of The Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus.
It seems the age range of our most consistent audience is 45-54; while the 18-24 demographic is our smallest. That said, our audience in the 30-34 year-old range grew by 600%. Notable, as that age range falls within the Millennial generation that were the first to come of age in the era of active shooter drills, and are perhaps most interested at searching online for information about our firearms epidemic, it’s stories, and it’s possible solutions.
Our listeners seem to be voracious consumers of podcasts. The others they most frequently listen to are: The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Daily, Morbid, Wang’s Podcast, and Pod Save America.
Perhaps surprisingly, the top music genre our listeners turn to when they’re done with all the talking is Country. We hope this small tidbit of trivia belies the ol’ notion that country music fans are all gun lovers.
The most satisfying stat for us is that among all our listeners we attained a full 5-star rating for our content! We hope to retain that rating with continually interesting guests and always-improving production as we move into what looks to be a wild ride in 2025 for gun violence prevention activists.
