GVPanorama: Owning and Using a Firearm in Ireland
The Emerald Isle proves legal and safe gun ownership is possible
Let’s be honest, no matter the original intention, St. Patrick’s Day is mostly known as a holiday for drinking, which has only reinforced Irish stereotypes through the years.
Well don’t look now, but Ireland has developed into one of the most progressive countries in the free world, and a favorite destination for not just vacationers but Americans surveying the map for possible landing spots to move abroad.
For today’s GVPanorama, we thought we’d share Ireland’s firearms regulations as a reality check on how common sense laws can lead to near zero gun deaths without outlawing firearms — which in Irish law also includes “Crossbows, Spearguns, All air guns with a muzzle velocity (speed) of over 1 joule (including paintball markers).”
Check out the full details here. And Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
