Giving Tuesday - "Why I Support GVPedia"
A way to extend your holiday spirit out into the world.
After Thanksgiving’s feast, Black Friday’s bustle, and Cyber Monday’s spending spree, Giving Tuesday offers a moment to sit back and reflect on those organizations that are important in your life.
The Giving Tuesday campaign began as a way to “reimagine a world built upon shared humanity and generosity.” We founded GVPedia six years ago to serve as a bridge between the academic and policy worlds, as well as to counter the growing tide of disinformation about gun violence.
And as we explained yesterday, 2023 has been our busiest year yet: We’ve provided data and research directly to advocates across the country; launched the Armed With Reason Substack and podcasts; continued to host online seminars and other videos; and finalized the upcoming release of a data visualization tool that will provide even greater access to data.
We appreciate all the writers, contributors, and co-workers who help keep GVPedia and Armed With Reason going. And we certainly hope our work here inspires you to stay strong in the confounding and often discouraging fight against our gun violence epidemic.
We encourage you to share your thoughts, opinions, or suggestions with us in the comments section below our daily articles, or directly through GVPedia. We will try to answer back as timely as we can.
Our increased activity over the last year has been noticed by many in the gun violence prevention realm:
“I support GVPedia because they are my go-to resource when I need more than just a soundbite. They have a wealth of primary research and rigorous myth-busting analysis that I regularly rely on.” - Jonathan Perloe, GVP advocate; former chapter lead of Brady Campaign Southwestern CT
“I support GVPedia because as someone with a medical background, I appreciate GVPedia’s evidence and fact-based approach to understanding and preventing gun violence. If we are going to reduce gun violence, we must approach this issue as the public health crisis that it is. At the same time, I recognize that this issue has become politicized and is seen as cultural issue by many — and this can’t be ignored. I appreciate that GVPedia recognizes this as well in how they share evidence-based information with the appropriate cultural and political context.” - Sonni Mun, GVP Advocate and Educator; Volunteer, Moms Demand Action, Gays Against Guns
“The only way to counter the disinformation of the gun lobby is with facts and data. I support GVPedia because their collection of studies and analyses gives me the tools to drive policy changes.” - Barry Graubart, gun violence prevention advocate

While we’re hopeful for the future, we can’t continue on in this fight without your support.
The easiest way for you to donate is through a paid subscription to this Armed With Reason page. In celebration of our sixth year, we have discounted the subscription to either $6 a month, or $60 for the year. This will give you full access to our daily email newsletter, the Armed With Reason website’s full archive, and occasional email updates.
If you already have a paid subscription, you can share a subscription with a special individual here:
Of course, you can donate today or any day to make a difference.
Thank you for your support and for all you do to help bring an end to gun violence. Have a safe and happy holiday season!
