The Data on U.S. Guns Used in Crimes in Mexico

Chicago’s Violence Interrupters Hail Drops In Gun Violence, Call For Steadier Funding
“Chicago saw 417 homicides last year — the lowest number since 1965, 29 percent fewer than in 2024 and a nearly 50 percent decrease from 2021. It also marked the fourth-straight year of drops in the number of shootings. That trend has shown early signs of continuing this year with nine fewer homicides than the same point in 2025.”
Opinion: Gun safety does not mean guns can be used safely
“If trained soldiers cannot completely prevent tragic errors despite rigorous discipline and structure, it is unrealistic to assume that widespread student gun ownership will reliably produce better outcomes in moments of panic or confusion. Expanding access to firearms does not automatically expand judgment, restraint, or fire discipline.”
Steve Kerr Talks Netflix Doc ‘All the Empty Rooms,’ Gun Safety and His Expiring Warriors Contract
“I think Steve Hartman talks about it in the beginning of the movie, he says that human nature is to go numb and to look away — but the point of the movie is for people not to look away. It’s to address it and understand it. What my hope is, if they can address it and understand it a little bit, then they’ll be more willing to act on it.”
Northwell Health’s Gun Violence Prevention Forum: Spotlighting progress
“Conversations will tackle the complex landscape of gun violence from every angle, spanning practical prevention strategies like firearm safety, safe storage, suicide prevention, mental health care, and vital community-based solutions such as violence intervention and outreach programs, hospital-based initiatives, innovative policing strategies, and fostering youth engagement and employment pathways.”

Viewpoint: As gun laws weaken, deaths rise sharply
“The researchers then differentiated firearm-related deaths as homicides or suicides, and here is where the narrative shifts dramatically. Stronger gun laws showed a significantly stronger correlation for reduced suicides compared to homicides.”
Gun Accessory Manufacturer Settles Buffalo Suit for $1.75M
“The settlement with the company MEAN Arms came as a result of claims from families and survivors that the company produced a part that supposedly ‘locked’ a magazine onto a semiautomatic rifle, making it legal in New York State. But the company also advertised that the device was easily removed by the shooter, and even provided directions to do so.”
